Emergency Response Plan During Water Line Construction

A plan has been developed for use in an emergency while some town roads are closed during water line construction. The work is being done by RG & Associates with construction by Dietzler Construction. Hopefully the actions in this plan will never be needed, but it should help bring some peace of mind to the residents affected by the construction.

Traffic Control Plan for Emergency Access

The following is the emergency access plan for the RG & Associates and Dietzler Construction project:

  • JFVD/EMS will stage one fire apparatus on the west end of the construction activities. Apparatus will include adequate quantities of hose.
  • Dietzler Construction will stage a vehicle on the west end of the construction activities
  • Scott Crawford, Dietzler Superintendent, will carry the Mayor’s emergency pager and will be alerted through the County’s tone in the event of an emergency.
  • Kyle Maretech, RG & Associates Construction Inspector, will carry the Mayor’s emergency radio and will be alerted through the County’s tone in the event of an emergency
  • In the event of an emergency, the JVFD/EMS will include in their Tone Acknowledgement an instruction to Dietzler to prepare emergency access
  • For an EMS call above the closed construction site, Dietzler will halt all construction activities and:
    • Assist the Jamestown EMS team with transporting equipment from the east side of construction to the west, load the equipment into the staged Dietzler vehicle to the call address
    • Establish vehicle access to the call address within 20 minutes sufficient for our suburban and the AMR ambulance
  • For a Fire call above the closed construction site, Dietzler will halt all construction activities and:
    • Establish vehicle access to the call address within 20 minutes sufficient for fire apparatus
